I have a legal Skyrim SE copy, but downgraded through Steam to 1.5. I also use SSEdit to make the basic cleanup of the mods I use.

I use Vortex to download and install mods, then LOOT to sort them and identify obvious issues like patches. This randomness makes it extremely annoying to check after disabling some mods and keeping the others (the typical way). The game can go on for up to an hour or several if extremely lucky, or may freeze after a few minutes. This may point to some issue with NPCs, which are much scarcer there. The freezes seem to be rarer in dungeons and especially up north around Winterhold and Dawnstar, but they still happen. The game freezes randomly - sometimes mid conversation, sometimes on entering a new zone, sometimes in combat, sometimes when out exploring or in the inventory. The game freezes, not crashes, so no logs are being generated anywhere.
